EX-POLICE OFFICER OFFERS SELF-DEFENCE CLASSES IN TEDDINGTON

A former Met police officer is running local self-defence classes in Teddington which may help save people from serious injury.
Kevin Hyde, who’s also a first aid trainer has developed a two-hour session to cover the basics along with the legal implications of self-defence and advice on how to de-escalate conflict,
He says: “Whether man or woman, young or old, knowing how to defend yourself could save you from injury or boost your confidence.”
The sessions are held at the Sea Cadets hut at Fairways off Broom Road, Teddington and last two hours and cost £50 per person.
Kevin says of the sessions, ‘Many people feel unsafe in their surroundings, I have developed these sessions to help improve that and give them the confidence to defend themselves from conflict where necessary.’

He says: “Over the course of 30 years as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Service, I was an officer working on the streets of London and administered first aid on many occasions. I am currently a ‘GoodSAM’ First Responder, responding to 999 first aid calls, prior to the arrival of the Ambulance Service. “I also teach Level 1 Award in awareness of Safeguarding and Level 3 award in principles safeguarding & protecting children, young people or vulnerable adults. All of the courses adhere to the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive.
