The Teddington Arms pub in the High Street, which is a big hit with young sports fans, has been put up for sale, we have learned today.
Unconditional offers have been invited for the freehold which includes the large ground floor pub area and one residential flat above.
According to the details seen by Teddington Town its attraction to a potential buyer includes ‘strong local catchment including nearby riverside amenties and affluent residential surroundings.’
The news is a big surprise to the pub’s regular drinkers, who include a high percentage of young sports fans including those who want to follow the FIFA World Cup in a buzzy bar atmosphere.
It is understood that even some of the staff are unaware of the plan by pub owner and operator Greene King to sell the business despite plenty of evidence online.
The pub is located right next to the former HSBC bank site which is due to be demolished this summer and turned into a mixture of lower ground retail units and residential flats.
An open viewing session took place at the property at 38-40 High Street, Teddington yesterday from 10am until 11am. Unconditional offers were invited by the sellers AG & G, commercial estate agents specialising in pubs, bars and restaurants.
