TWICKENHAM BRIDGE CLOSED AFTER FATAL CRASH


Twickenham Bridge was closed in both directions today after a fatal car crash blocked both lanes.
Eye witnesses said that one of the cars involved was a vintage car which burst into flames after the collision.
A Met spokesperson said: “On Tuesday, 16 June at 14:32hrs police were called to reports of a serious collision between two cars on Twickenham Bridge.
“Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.
“Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 74-year-old man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“His next-of-kin has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
“Two women, aged 82 and 74, were taken to hospital. Their injuries have since been assessed as life-threatening.
“No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
“Anyone with information that may assist police, including witnesses or those with dashcam footage of the incident, are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4652/16Jun.”
