Exclusive: REBUILDING STARTS AT THE FIRE-WRECKED PAVILION OF HAMPTON WICK ROYAL CRICKET CLUB

Work has finally started to rebuild the ‘beloved’ pavilion of Hampton Wick Royal cricket club in Bushy Park, two years and nine months after it was burned to the ground.
Delighted Club Chairman Sam Kemp said: “This is due to a huge amount of work by lots of volunteers for the club and also thanks to the support we have received from organisations like SporTedd.
“On behalf of our Committee, many thanks to all of you for the support you have provided and continue to provide to us.
“We have appointed Storm Building Ltd, a local building company based in Richmond, as our main contractor.
“If all goes well, it will be a 10-month project, so we hope to have our pavilion up and running in time for the 2027 season.
“Although we have started the rebuild, we are still in fundraising mode and continue to fight our insurers for a full settlement of our claim with the support of the Financial Ombudsman Services.
“We will post regular updates and information posts about all matters Wick on our social media channels @theWICK1863 (Instagram / X / TikTok).
“Please follow us to keep up to speed with our progress, and thanks again to SporTedd for all the great work you do and for your ongoing support of The Wick.”
SporTedd (SporTedd.co.uk) is a local Teddington not-for-profit group set up to raise funds for specific sport-themed projects across the Borough and has so far donated over £150.000.
