RICHMOND’S TED LASSO GETS MASSIVE SHOUT AT WORLD CUP FINAL
Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted Lasso and his on-screen sidekick Coach Beard played by Brendan Hunt had a cameo role in the half-time entertainment segment at the FIFA World Cup Final.
The pair were featured walking along the touchline at the New Jersey stadium during a 20 minute break which featured Madonna, Coldplay, The Muppets. They introduced Justin Bieber.
The two award-winning actors appeared in character giving publicity to the Apple TV+ series to a global audience of 1.5 BILLION – one of the biggest in sporting history.
As well as reminding existing fans that Season Four starts streaming on August 5 the promo will undoubtedly trigger curiosity from new fans and create even more interest in the show’s filming locations around Richmond and Hayes & Yeading football club.
One Richmond retailer said: “It’s difficult to believe there can be any more interest – we have visitors from all over the world every day and this is just going to take things to a higher level.”
Richmond has an official Ted Lasso merchandise shop in Paved Court almost opposite Ted’s fictional front door and Ted Lasso walking tours offer visitors the chance to see specific filming locations.
