Do you have a passion for reading? Then why not join us every month, when we come together in reading and reviewing a wide selection of books. Our friendly sessions are the perfect way to meet like-minded readers and discover exciting new reads. We explore short stories, novels, non-fiction, poetry, and best sellers.

Fridays at 1pm

Friday September 20th – The Dance Tree, Kiran Millwood Hargrave

Set against the backdrop of the dancing plague in Strasbourg in 1518, “The Dance Tree” follows the fate of a pregnant woman named Lisbet. As the town around her succumbs to uncontrollable dancing, Lisbet must navigate a maze of societal judgment and personal hardship, weaving a tale of resilience in the face of inexplicable phenomena.

Friday October 18th – The Wager, David Grann

In this true historical narrative, David Grann recounts the harrowing tale of an 18th-century shipwreck survivor who makes a dangerous bet to save himself and return to civilization. “The Wager” is a story of survival, betrayal, and the extraordinary lengths to which people will go to honour a debt.

Friday November 22nd – Saturday.  Ian McEwan

Taking place over a single day in London, “Saturday” follows neurosurgeon Henry Perowne as he navigates a series of increasingly unsettling encounters culminating in a confrontation that will challenge his beliefs and the fabric of his society. McEwan’s finely tuned prose dissects the complexities of the post-9/11 world with compelling precision.
