Filming of Series Four of the feelgood award-winning Apple TV+ show TED LASSO returned ‘home’ to Richmond yesterday with a big welcome from local businesses and residents.

The pub on Richmond Green, made famous by the three previous series, The Prince’s Head, was once again transformed into show’s Crown & Anchor with a temporary change of signage.

Ted’s fictional front door in nearby Paved Court was nit reinstalled for scenes featuring his home but several paving stones were removed suggesting it will feature at some stage.

**The Prince’s Head pub which appeared extensively in the first three series of Ted Lasso as The Crown & Anchor had its pub signs disguised with makeshift covers before filming starts**

The props from the filming which ended in London in 2022 were carefully packed up and labelled and flown back into Los Angeles for safe storage in the event of a new series.

According to US reports in Series Four Ted takes charge of an AFC Richmond Second Division women’s team after returning to London from being reunited with wife and son in Kansas at the end of the third series.

At least four British actors from the previous series – which won SEVEN Emmy’s – will take up their roles again, Hannah Waddingham as club owner Rebecca Welton, Brett Goldstein, who played tough guy Roy Kent, Jeremy Swift who played Leslie Higgins and Juno Temple who play PR supremo Keeley Jones.

Several British young female actors have also been signed up as part of the AFC Richmond’s Women’s Team – which is certain to attract a massive following after the Euro triumph of the Lionesses in the summer.

Hundreds of fans turned out for the first location filming after two weeks of being based inside at the West London Studios and the nearby Hayes & Yeading football club used as a training ground in previous shows.

Filming was taking place in THREE separate locations around the Green, the pub, Richmond Theatre and Pembroke Villas.

Filming also took place on Monday when British star Hannah Waddingham, who plays club owner Rebecca Welton was seen filming at the fancy Richmond riverside restaurant Scott’s and Brett Goldstein, who played Roy Kent in the previous three series was seen for the first time. Filming also took place in Kingston on Monday.

According to one insider the location filming will be limited for Series Four but the producers were keen to capture the ‘authenticity of the season’ with trees beginning to shed their leaves on Richmond Green.

Ted Lasso, played by the show’s creator and one of its writers Jason Sudeikis, could be seen clearly directing scenes alongside the filming co-ordinator Chip Hamilton.

Ted’s ‘sidekick’ Coach Beard played by show favourite Brendan Hunt could also be seen during three hours of filming near Richmond Green and its famous pair of red phone boxes.

Richmond and its many businesses, especially bars and restaurants with links to the show, have experienced a massive economic boost from the influx of tourists as well as Ted Lasso guided walks and an official merchandise store also opposite Ted’s front door.

Excited staff at the busy store were hopeful that the show’s stars might drop by as the store only opened for business AFTER the series had finished in 2023.

Local businesses were given a heads up about the imminent filming and warned about possible disruption two weeks ago.

A letter from the location manager to local businesses stated: “We’re aware of the positive impact this show has had in bringing new visitors to Richmond, and the production team is truly grateful for the warm welcome and continued support from local residents and businesses.

“Filming here is a privilege, and we want to make sure our presence is as smooth and respectful as possible.”

The latest series is unlikely to be on air until April next year but could be the first of THREE new series.
