LOCK CLOSURES AT TEDDINGTON

Navigation access to Teddington Lock, which is normally open 24 hours is currently restricted, the Environment Agency has said.
As works to repair Teddington Launch Lock progress, the Environment Agency will continue to manage navigation through Teddington Barge Lock.
The Agency has established working practices which allow for operation of the barge lock.
This will require two people to operate safely.
Divers will be attending Teddington Launch Lock between Wednesday 1 October and Friday 31 October.
Navigation through Teddington Barge Lock during this period will be operated at specific times.
During weekdays (Monday to Friday), Teddington Lock will be closed for navigation outside of the stated times below.
Date | Passage through Teddington Barge Lock |
---|---|
Wednesday 1 October | 8am to 10am |
Thursday 9 October | 4pm to 6pm |
Friday 10 October | 4.30pm to 6.30pm |
Tuesday 14 October | 8am to 9.30am |
Thursday 23 October | 4pm to 6pm |
Friday 24 October | 4pm to 6pm |
Tuesday 28 October | 5pm to 7pm |
Friday 31 October | 8am to 9.30am |
Passage through the barge lock will be available on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) during October from 9am to 5pm. Please be aware the last lock movement will be 30 minutes before closure.
Due to the revised process, passage through Teddington Lock may take longer than usual.
For significant pre-organised events and clubs requiring passage outside of the stated operational hours, requests for passage can be made 10 working days in advance by contacting WaterwaysThames@environment-agency.gov.uk.
The Environment Agency will try to accommodate these requests where possible, but this cannot be guaranteed.
A spokesperson told Teddington Town: “Teddington Lock will be closed to navigation for essential maintenance works for published periods from 5 November to 3 December 2025 as part of the Environment Agency’s planned Capital Investment Programme.
“We will provide further information regarding anticipated closure dates as soon as possible.
