EXCLUSIVE PREVIEW OF TEDDINGTON’S NEW LION PUB (PHOTO SPECIAL)

Here is an exclusive glimpse inside Teddington’s new community pub, The Lion, in Wick Road which has been saved and refurbished by local investors and customers.
The grand opening is this Friday, December 5 at 11am but the proper launch be in the evening with hundreds of customers expected to return to roar on The Lion.
Teddington Town received a peek-in-the-pub today which will be selling at least two local cask beers, Grandstand and Naked Ladies from Twickenham Brewery, three draft beers from another local brewery from Jawbone and two low-alcohol beers on draft.
The main bar is in the same position but the new owners have created much more space including a ‘snug’ area and a separate area with a large TV screen.
There’s also plenty of room outside for families to enjoy better weather with ‘shed’ booths offering shelter too.
The pub worked closely with local designer Estelle Buckland of Door Nineteen and local contractor Oliver Bell of Bell Projects.
Pete Scott, one of the community owners, said: “Almost everything on the walls was donated by our excellent investors and other locals, while the furniture was lovingly restored, sourced or donated by that same group.”
He added: “Friday will be a fun opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate getting their pub back.
“With a festive flavour and introductory treats, it’ll also provide an opportunity to meet our super staff and chat to them and investors about what you want to see from the pub.”
