MP URGES MAYOR TO BACK CAMPAIGN TO MAKE TEDDINGTON POLICE STATION A COMMUNITY ASSET

Local MP Munira Wilson has written a hard-hitting letter to the London Mayor Sadiq Khan urging him to back the campaign to allow the repurposing of the derelict Teddington Police station for the community, it was revealed today.
She says the ground floor could be turned into an extended Park Road surgery to help cope with its 12000 patients, the police could have a base there and the rest could help meet the ‘acute need’ for social housing for the Borough.
The MP urged the Mayor in the ‘strongest possible terms’ to protect ‘this precious public asset’ and to allow it to be repurposed for the ‘health and wellbeing of the Teddington community’ and not sold to a luxury property developer.
Her letter to the Mayor follows the long-awaited publication of the Met’s 10 year Estates Strategy in which it was confirmed that Teddington Police station was earmarked for ‘disposal.’
