A Section 35 Dispersal Order is in place from 13:30hrs on 24 June 2026 until 02:00hrs on 26 June 2026 covering Richmond Green and Teddington Lock.
With very warm weather and early school closures, we expect increased footfall and gatherings in these popular locations.
While these are spaces for everyone to enjoy, there is a history of anti-social behaviour and disorder linked to large youth gatherings, including a recent incident on Richmond Green involving violence and disruption.
At Teddington Lock, there are also ongoing concerns around young people entering the river, including jumping from the bridge and nearby structures, which poses a serious risk to life.
This order allows officers to direct individuals to leave the area where their behaviour is contributing, or is likely to contribute, to anti-social behaviour, crime, or disorder, helping to:
• Prevent crime and disorder
• Reduce anti-social behaviour
• Keep young people safe
We would ask parents and carers to remind young people not to jump into the river from bridges or structures at Teddington Lock, as this behaviour is dangerous and may result in them being directed to leave the area under these powers.
Local Safer Neighbourhood officers will be on patrol throughout.
We want everyone to enjoy these areas safely—please act responsibly and look out for one another.q |
