TEENAGER ARRESTED IN ‘DISTURBANCE’ ON RICHMOND GREEN

Police have revealed they were called to a ‘disturbance’ on Richmond Green on Friday night resulting in one arrest of a teenager.
In a short statement they said: “Police were called to Richmond Green at approximately 18:30hrs yesterday (July 3) following reports of a large gathering of youths, estimated to number between 50 and 70 individuals.
”During the incident, a 14-year-old male was assaulted by two other youths.
“One of the suspects, also aged 14, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and subsequently conveyed to Kingston Police Station for investigation.
“In response to the ongoing concerns, the Duty Officer authorised a Section 35 Dispersal Order at 21:20hrs.
“The order is currently in force and will remain in place until 21:19hrs tonight.
“This provides officers with additional powers to direct individuals to leave the area where their presence is contributing to anti-social behaviour, crime, or disorder.
“There will be a visible policing presence around Richmond Green this evening (July 4), with Safer Neighbourhood Team officers and PCSOs conducting patrols.
“Should the situation require it, additional support will be provided by local Response Team officers.
“We will continue to engage with young people gathering within the borough’s public open spaces, reinforcing their responsibility to respect local communities and those using these areas.
“Where individuals are found to be involved in anti-social behaviour, violence, or disorder, we will take robust and proportionate enforcement action.
“We remain grateful for the continued support of our partners and the local community in helping to keep Richmond a safe and welcoming place for all.”
