LAST BIG PUSH FOR SEWAGE PETITION



The campaigning group SOLAR (Save our Lands and River) has joined forces with the local WI ( Women’s Institute) to urge a final push towards 100.000 signatures for the e-petition against the ‘Thames Sewage Pump.’
A spokesperson said: “We’ve reached 43000 and we now need your support please to get it over the line for a parliamentary debate on sewage treatment standards.

“The petition is directly dealing with inadequate current sewage treatments causing so much concern in community, recreational and environmental groups all over the country,. The intention is to stop our rivers, lakes and seas being used as sewage dumping grounds.

Who are we?
We are SOLAR (Save Our Lands And River) STOP Thames Water TDRA – Save Our Lands & River from Thames Water a campaign group founded over three years ago in opposition to Thames Water’s (TW) proposal for the Teddington Direct River Abstraction (TDRA) scheme – or as it has become known ‘Thames Sewage Pump.’
The WI invited supporters and members to the designated bathing site near the Hawker Centre as part of their National Week of River Action but were unable to swim because of the continued pollution by algae in the section of the river.
