MEAN-SPIRITED THIEVES REMOVE REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY DECORATION
The local community has reacted angrily after mean-spirited thieves stole a special Remembrance Sunday ‘topper’ mounted on a post box in Kingston Road, Teddington.
The knitted arrangement, specially made by Denise Lloyd, featured a grey cross and several poppies on a green base and was secured with cable ties, said Denise.
Denise, who is well-known locally for her seasonal ‘toppers’ on local post boxes only fixed the ‘topper’ to the box on Sunday – a week before Remembrance Sunday.
In a social media post, she wrote: “IT’S GONE! I only put it out on Sunday and it was securely attached!!!
“If you see it please let me know. Many thanks.
I have checked with some of the local shops and sadly no CCTV is available facing the post box!”
She added: “Thank you for all the lovely comments. I have to say for this one to be taken, has shocked me. One that was taken before turned up in a carrier bag outside a shop unharmed and I was notified. I’m hoping the same will happen again…”
Below is a sample of the reactions to the theft of the social media platform, Next Door.
