Our performances of The Juniper Tree, by Philip Glass and Robert Moran in March 2017 will form part of the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames’ Music and Drama Festival. These are expected to be high profile events as our performances represent the UK premiere for the opera, and this year is Glass’s 80th birthday year.

The ethos of the Helen Astrid Singing Academy is about nurturing and developing young talent and giving opportunities to children and members of the community to work together in professional performances of the highest artistic endeavour.

For The Juniper Tree we are showcasing young professionals with the outstanding Mariya Krywaniuk (photograph) and children from Hampton School and Lady Eleanor Holles as well as ten-year old Lia Tynan, a pupil at St James’s Catholic Primary School who has sung at the Royal Opera House, and Angus Whitworth, head chorister at the Chapel Royal. The director is Donna Stirrup, Andy Langley is the conductor and the ensemble is from The Royal College of Music.

Not to be missed!
