Wedding Day Race Results

NewsThis years Stragglers Wedding Day Run marked quite the occasion – the 30th race held since the original commemorated the wedding of Prince Charles and Diana in 1981.

505 runners took part in this year’s race that has in its past seen Mo Farah win the junior prize. The largest ever year saw 666 entrants – the same as the race number that organiser ‘Father Onn’ proudly displays on his chest.

Younger runners were split into different age categories for their own hotly contested competition and runners young and old were smiling with glee when walking away with their specially designed commemorative t-shirts complete with Bushy Park deer motif.

After the main event was complete, Hampton Hill Cricket Club hosted a social evening for the participants and their friends and families to unwind, picnic and to wait eagerly to hear who had won prizes or beaten their personal best times. There were so many award categories that it was very dark when the final ones were announced – including best fancy dress which went to runners from Park Lane Stables for a Charles/Diana outfit combo that included a wedding dress adjusted for running. One lucky winner also walked away with the special 30th race cake.

Age-graded race results can be found here.

The takings are still being tallied but each year about £1,000 of the proceeds go to charities and good causes.

Stragglers wish to express thanks to the generous sponsors who donated race assistance and prizes for the winners of various categories:

  • Bar Estillo
  • Bengal Brasserie
  • Bluebeckers
  • Burt’s Cycles
  • Dominoes Pizza
  • Max Sports
  • Piazza Firenze
  • Retro
  • Red Peppers
