So long and thanks for all the fish

NewsI have been running this site now for the last 5 years. It’s been fun getting involved with all things local, meeting and chatting to local residents and business owners and using the site and increasingly Twitter as a noticeboard for the town.

But priorities change and in the next couple of months I will be leaving Teddington for a new life in West Yorkshire.

If you are interested in running the teddingtontown.co.uk website and @Teddington_Town Twitter account, get in touch via contact@teddingtontown.co.uk and hopefully before I leave I can hand it over to someone so that it can continue to serve the town.

There are a few basics you might need to have to run things (particularly the website):
* Writing skills
* WordPress
* HTML (basic)
* Image manipulation (basic)
* Good knowledge of Twitter
* Spare time!

So if you have a smattering of these and are passionate about Teddington, get in touch and I will reply with more info.

I’ll miss Teddington, but still be visiting London regularly for work & friends so not cutting ties completely. If you want to stay in touch and follow the northern adventures, my personal Twitter account is @MrBeamish.

[Update] A shortlist has been chosen and I will be making an announcement about the new owner soon.

  • So very sorry to hear that you are moving! I do hope someone will take over the site. How else are we going to keep abreast of all the news in Teddington? Shops closing and opening, planning matters, campaigns, events and all the lovely pictures submitted by your readers? The Teddington site could always be relied on to keep us up to date. Thank you for doing such a marvellous job and good luck ‘up North’!

    Just want to thank you very much for doing this. I do hope someone comes forward. I too have moved but to Eastbourne driven away by aircraft noise. Sadly I think the terrific efforts of TAG will not change the current level let alone the new activity of a 3rd runway. Cheers and thanks again Jeremy

  • Thats such a shame to hear. I’ve had a great time staying abreast with developments in Teddington with the help of your website. In fact, I moved away from the area a year ago and still enjoy reading your posts. I wish you they very best for the future. All the very best in your new life ‘Up North’!

  • Sorry to hear this. You’ve done a great job for Teddington both on the blog and on the shop local initiatives.

    And thanks too for the advice you offered in the early days of Twickerati, I appreciate it.

    Best of luck in Yorkshire. If they have the internet there you could maybe start up a new site.
