Teddington and other surrounding areas suffer water problems on Christmas Day

Teddington along with a lot of other South West areas saw residents wake up on Christmas Day to see their water had been shut off.

The problem arose as Thames Water had a problem with their pumps leaving families panicking about their Christmas dinners.

A statement from Thames Water said: “We apologise that customers in the TW2, TW3, TW4, TW12 and TW13 postcodes are without water. This is because of an issue with our Hampton pumps. We are looking to reset these remotely but may need to dispatch an engineer to manually reset them.”

Sara Parsons stated: “Post your ideas of how to cook Christmas dinner without water here for residents of Teddington and Twickenham.”

One resident tweeted: Seriously @thameswater just get an engineer down there and stop faffing about! It’s Christmas Day and we have no water to even flush the loo.”

Thames Water Communications Manager Lisa McGhee said: “We are really sorry to all customers who have experienced no water or low pressure this morning. This was due to an issue with the pumps on our network.

Our team have fixed the problem and water pressures are building in the area. We apologise for the disruption caused, it’s never convenient to lose supply but we know it’s particularly difficult on Christmas Day.”
