Parking Charges Could Be Introduced For Richmond And Bushy Park

Parking charges could be introduced in Richmond and Bushy Park to help ease traffic and push people to find alternate more economical routes to the parks e.g. cycling.

Running from now until November 1st, the Royal Parks are holding an eight-week public consultation on the proposals. Also, they’re designed to better manage the demand for a parking spaces and generate income to help maintain the car parks.

This scheme would put in place a 6 our maximum stay limit. However, blue badge and motorcyclists would still get to park for free but still be subject to the maximum stay limit.

The fees are proposed to be £1.40 per hour Monday to Saturday and £2.00 per hour on Sunday for both parks.

Not only would this bring revenue to the parks, but it will allow people who need to drive have more space and force locals to find better and sustainable ways.

It’s also encouraged for the council to look carefully at this proposal and perhaps the more revenue could provide a bus route to circulate around for limited mobility visitors.

The Parks are a treasured asset for everyone. We must not be charged to enjoy them.
