Richmond Council Asking People To Share Their Stories For Black History Month

To commemorate Black History Month in October, Richmond Council are appealing for people who live, work or study in the borough to share their stories and experiences. This is to recognise, acknowledge and appreciate what black people have been through and have accomplished throughout history.

The Council is looking to launch a programme of events and activities aimed at commemorating the history, celebrate achievements and recognise the contributions of black people in Richmond and in the UK.

The Council is appealing for residents to come forward and help create this exhibition of stories, experiences, photographs and videos. The exhibition would then be shared online as well.

Richmond Council is also running a community conversation programme, this is to allow people to listen to the experience of local black residents living in the borough, so that local prejudices and behaviours can be improved and challenged.
