TENTED DRINKING AREA DISAPPEARS FROM THE KING’S HEAD PUB IN TEDDINGTON
The tented drinking and dining area outside The King’s Head pub, which has become a familiar sight in Teddington’s High Street, was finally dismantled today (wed)
The giant canopy replaced the old car park after the Government advised pubs to make use of their external space during and after the COVID pandemic.
It was erected in November 2021.
Pub goers were quick to take advantage of the new space – which could accommodate 60 seated people – especially during the warm summer months and the area was packed for the screenings of big sporting events, like the Euros, the Rugby World Cup and Wimbledon as well as large parties of people who could not find space inside the pub.
It is understood there were several complaints about late night noise from residents in nearby roads, which led to the decision to remove the tented area.
Today, all that remained were a few tables and chairs and a giant deckchair as well as a red car which blocked any attempts to park directly outside the pub.
The King’s Head is one of Teddington’s most popular pubs and restaurants but declined an opportunity to reveal future plans for the space.
