PORTAKABINS REPLACE BURNED DOWN CRICKET PAVILION

The temporary changing rooms and facilities have now been set up at Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club in Bushy Park.

Four portakabins have been built as changing rooms and a large semi-permanent marquee sits on the perimeter of the grounds to provide hospitalty.

Planning applications have been made to start building a new pavilion, which was burned to the ground in a suspected arson attack last September.

It is hoped to start work at the end of the year. No-one has been arrested in connection with the fire.

Club Chair, Sam Kemp told Teddington Town: “The four portakabins will be used as two changing rooms, a kitchen and a toilet block. The plumbing and electrical fixing will be finished next week. They should be fully commissioned for next weekend.

“The marquee will serve as the club room. This is where players will have tea and where we will set up a bar to serve players and spectators alike. It will also provide shelter from the inevitable rain!

“We are aiming for a soft launch of the marquee next weekend. There are still lots of logistics to finalise.

“Both the portakabins and the marquee will be surrounded by a fixed, secure fence which is being erected this week. This is for security and to protect the deer from coming into contact with these temporary facilities. “
