Signs on the window show that the premises at 194 Kingston Road are now the subject of a repossession order.

There is also a handwritten message from the owner John Charalambous, who has run the Fish Bar for 15 years, which says: “Message from John. I am very sorry we are unable to open today. We are working to have this dispute resolved as possible. John. ”

Alongside is a type written Possession Notice which states: ” To:  All and Any others this may concern.

The fish and chip shop had to close down after an electrical fire but a community crowdfunding campaign organised by local resident Laura Cole, raised over £4850 with 190 donations  to help the owners complete repairs and reopen.

At the time Mr Charalambous said he was ‘truly humbled’ by the support he had received and added: “Even after 15 years I didn’t realise how much my shop and I meant to people locally, especially after being closed for over a year. I am truly humbled and lost for words at the kindness I am being shown.

“All I can do is promise I am doing everything I can to reopen as soon as possible, having the support of the local community has really helped give a positive boost to my mental health just when I needed it. I was struggling and didn’t want to be a burden to anyone or reach out for help, it’s just not how I was brought up.”

Teddington Town did contact J. Golding & Sons whoh said they could not make any comment.
