Breaking News: MAJOR TRAIN DISRUPTION AFTER STABBING INCIDENT
The British Transport Police are appealing for information after a stabbing at Barnes train station this morning that’s left a man fighting for his life.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police has asked anyone with information to get in touch.
The man has been rushed to hospital, where his injuries are said to be life-threatening and “consistent with a stabbing”.
The incident took place at about 7.10am this morning and any witnesses are urged to come forward.
They said: “Enquiries into this incident are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 89 of 26 September.”
Commuters faced travel chaos as police descended upon the station in south-west London this morning after a knife attack.
The station was shut down following the stabbing, with no trains stopping as police flooded the scene.
According to media reports passengers were forced to switch to buses as they scrambled for alternative routes.
A spokesperson for National Rail said: “Trains are currently unable to call at Barnes in either direction due to the police dealing with an incident at the station.
“You may use your ticket on London Bus routes 33 and 337 in the Barnes area at no extra cost.”
South Western Railway also updated its passengers on the incident.
A spokesperson for the posted on social media platform X.
The post said: “Police are dealing with an incident near the railway at Barnes.
“Train services running through this station will be suspended. Barnes will not be served.”
