Here, in an exclusive interview with Teddington Town Aled, 53 and a father of two,  talks about his fascinating career and his life.

So Aled, tell us why your tour is called Full Circle?

It’s linked to the albums I’ve done with my boy voice. Also there’s a moment in the tour where I talk about recording the number 2 charting single I did with Sir Terry Wogan when he turned to me in Abbey Rd and joked that my career had come full circle as I’d started with him (being a guest on his TV chat show) and it ended with recording music with him!!
It’s actually my best charting single!

You’ve had a very full life encompassing TV, radio, theatre and as an author tell us what have been the highlights, so far?

So many – being able to be a successful singer boy and man is so lucky.  To think that I’ve recorded more than 40 albums still blows my mind.
Also working with some amazing musicians like Leonard Bernstein and singing for all royalty etc. Having best selling albums in Australia too is a real highlight.

Aled, you are closely associated with Songs of Praise? Does religion play an important in your life?

Yes I definitely believe in a higher power and I’ve always sung religious spiritual music – that’s where the connection lies with me.

Are you familiar with Teddington at all? If so, can you explain?

I was the last person to be ‘got’ on This Is Your Life and it was filmed in Teddington! I was surprised on stage in Royal Albert Hlall and we did t start filming until 11pm – I was amazed there was anyone in the audience!! I also live in south west London

This is a one man show rather just a concert, what can the Landmark audience expect?

Lots of stories – the first half is bad hair and clothes – were in the 70s and 80s.  There are so many photos and clips that people won’t have seen. It’s very nostalgic.
There’s strictly, masked singer, celebrity weddings, Leonard Bernstein, forgetting words in Royal Variety and being blown up on a Xmas special by a rat!

Will there be juicy stories that shatter that angelic look and reputation that your fans love and respect?

I’m 53 I’m no longer angelic!

I’m almost reluctant to ask but will you be singing Walking in the Air from The Snowman on October 6?

Yes I do and I talk about filming it for Top of the Pops too

Can you estimate how many times you have sang what might be described as your signature tune?

Millions of times bit and man but I don’t mind ‘cos it’s a lovely tune!

Can you describe how your voice has changed and since those early days and is still as easy to sing Walking in the Air?

It’s still easy to sing it! My voice is just lower.  That’s what was magical about the One Voice project where we made world history as the same person duetting with himself with two different voices. My adult voice is just like my childhood one but just lower. All the emotion and phrasing etc is the same.

Obviously you are a connoisseur of classical music with your regular Saturday show on Classic FM but can you tell us more about your other musical tastes, perhaps some surprising – like are you a Swifty or an Iron Maiden fan?

A fan of both actually. I’ve always listened to all kinds of music. Pop, classical, rap, heavy metal.  If it’s good it’s good and I’ll listen.

Is there a lot of singing in the Jones family home? What sort of music do your kids like – have they inherited your musical genes at all?

They both love music and Emilia sings quite a bit – she likes all the singer songwriter stuff and Lucas my son is more Indy

How many times have your kids seen The Snowman and what do they think of your singing?

They have seen it, I think! I’m just dad to them so they don’t really care what I do for a living!

You have performed in some of the world’s great concert halls, can you tell us which has been your favourite venue ever?

Probably The royal Albert Hall where I’ve performed over a hundred and fifty times!mLove Birmingham Symphony Hall too and Sydney Opera House is iconic.

Do you envisage a day when perhaps you can no longer sing in a way you’d wish to in a public performance, what would you do? Do you have any unfulfilled ambitions?

I’ll play centre forward for Arsenal pro celebs!!
