FROM BETTING TO BARKING……
FORMER LADBROKES IS TO BE A DOG FRIENDLY CAFE AND GROOMING SHOP
Work started today to convert the former Ladbrokes betting shop in High Street, Teddington into a dog training and grooming shop serving first=class coffee, Teddington Town can exclusively reveal.
The new owner Matt, who runs the Wild Bush chain of pet-friendly cafes and dog groomers, already has shops in Barnes, Putney, Fulham and Richmond, was on site in Teddington at today to start the work on the new shop, which he hopes will open before Xmas.
Online Wild Bush is described as: “Nestled in the heart of West London, Wild Bush Dog is a unique haven where the city’s canine residents and their human companions come to experience the pinnacle of dog care. Our boutique locations combine the finesse of expert grooming, the precision of professional training, and the warmth of a community dog café
A planning application has been made for a change of use and a new shopfront at 140 High Street and a notice is pinned to a nearby lamp post. The building is not listed but is part of the Teddington High Street Conservation Area.
Local residents will be relieved after previous rumours of a new butchers and then more recently a kitchen shop called Bread and Butter Kitchens came to nothing and left the scruffy site looking like an eyesore amongst the neat parade of shops and cafes which include restaurants Bade, Ruba, Cento Uno, The Fallow Deer and Piazza Firenze.
One of the promotion lines from Wild Bush is: “We’ll make your dog look cooler than Harry Styles.”
Matt said: “We are very well-known for our dog care but our coffee is excellent as well so you don’t have to be a dog lover to enjoy the experience!”
He added: “We’re thrilled to announce that Wild Bush is coming to Teddington High Street, marking our fifth store in London. Teddington has earned its reputation as one of the best places to live in London—and we’re convinced it’s not just because of the vibrant community, but also thanks to the sheer number of dogs in the area (we’re only half-joking!).
“We noticed a distinct gap in dog grooming services along the High Street and felt this was a perfect opportunity to bring our full range of offerings to this wonderful community.
“As part of our expansion from our roots in Putney, we’re committed to making each new store a hub for dog owners and lovers alike.
“At our Teddington location, you can look forward to a warm, welcoming space complete with a dog-friendly coffee shop, curated retail offerings, and our dog grooming experts because we believe dogs and good coffee simply belong together.”
The shop will offer dog grooming, training, day care and boarding as well as a host of doggy accessories such as fancy leads and winter jackets, dog bowls, treats, bedding and blankets and various toys and grooming appointments can be made online.
