TEDDINGTON LIBRARY TO CLOSE FOR INSTALLATION OF CCTV
Teddington Library on Waldegrave Road is to close down for 48 hours to allow the installation of CCTV cameras following advice from the police, it was revealed today.
The popular library, which first opened in 1906, will be shut on Monday 9 December and Tuesday 10 December but will reopen on Wednesday 11 December.
A spokesperson told Teddington Town: “The Metropolitan Police advises that all libraries should have CCTV and there is an ongoing programme in Richmond upon Thames to ensure CCTV coverage in library spaces.
“Teddington Library will be having cameras installed in December as part of the installation programme. In the coming months, we will ensure that CCTV is installed in all libraries to keep our customers and our staff feeling safe and discourage any inappropriate behaviour. ”
No books will be due for return during the brief closure period.
The library also acts as a polling station during local and national elections.
It is understood that several libraries across the Borough will be closing for a day or two over the next few months for CCTV cameras to be installed.
