SOHO CINDERS SHOCKS AND THRILLS THEATRE AUDIENCES – MISS IT IF YOU DARE!

It’s not exactly a traditional Christmas panto you’d take the kids to but this raunchy and raucous twist on Cinderella is full of risque shocks and laughs and had the audience at Hampton Hill Theatre in stitches.

Soho Cinders is a musical revolving around a good old-fashioned sex scandal featuring an aspiring gay politician called James Prince, a wealthy and gay businessman, a young rent boy called Robbie. as well as the The News of the World.

The singing and dancing is mesmerising and the ‘Ugly Sisters’ are outrageous in jaw-droppingly tight costumes.

Director and choreographer Sian Bowles Bevan says: “The show is very loosely based on the Cinderella story but does not have to be a pantomime. It is about real people with real life struggles. Subtlety, warmth, comedy well thought through, recognisable real people make this show and will ensure that the audience really invests in the story.”

The story is set in and around a Soho night spot in Old Compton Street and a launderette, which is run by Velcro or Cro to her friends. The songs include ‘The Don’t Make Glass Slippers’, I’m So Over Men’ performed hilariously and energetically by the two sisters Clodagh played by Faye Brann and Dana played by Sarah Perkins, ‘Wishing for the Normal’ and ‘Let him Go.’

The show is produced by BROS Theatre Company, based in Barnes and the South West London’s leading amateur theatre group. The original music was written by George Stiles after a book and lyrics by Anthony Drewe and Elliot Davis.

Verdict: It’s Funmissable
