FURTHER DELAYS TO OPENING OF TEDDINGTON STATION LIFTS

The long awaited opening of the passenger lifts at Teddington railway station has been further delayed, it was revealed today.
The two lifts on either side of station are much-needed for older travellers, those with heavy luggage and disabled people.
They had been due to be operational early this year after a series of pre-Christmas tests but now they will not be open until at least March.
A Network Rail spokesperson told Teddington Town today: “As you know, over Christmas we entered a testing period with the new lifts to ensure they are fully operational.
“During this time, engineers discovered a fault with the hydraulic rams, which generate movement to raise and lower the lift in the shaft.
“Our specialist engineers have ordered the bespoke parts and we now expect the lifts to reopen in March, following a further one-week testing period.
“I am very sorry for the delay and the continued disruption, we are working closely with our suppliers and lift specialists to expediate getting the lift into service. “
