TEDDINGTON INVENTION TO BE SHOWCASED AT TOP SPACE CONFERENCE

The first public premiere of the next generation of astronaut and para-stronaut exercise equipment for long duration space missions, HIFIm, which was invented in Teddington High Street, will take place next month.
The HIFIm machine, devised by local pilates teacher and former aircraft engineer John Kennett and his team will be showcased for the first time in the UK at Space conference at the Excel Centre on 11 and 12 March.
John Kennett, who will make a 30 minute presentation on the second day, said: “This will be the first conference that anyone off the street can buy a ticket to and it is the UK, so it’s really important to show that thew UK is leading the way in humans’ space exploration.”
John’s invention, which has been built with the support of his expert team, a light-weight machine based upon jumping which offers effective exercise on board the space station in zero gravity as well as other longer missions.
It is expected that Sir Richard Branson and TV scientist and author Brian Cox will attend as well as British astronauts and members of the public will be invited to experience the machine.
John will also use the opportunity t0 pitch his invention to potential investors as part of the UKSA (UK Space Agency) Accelerator Programme. The equipment has already attracted strong interest from the European Space Agency (ESA) NASA and the Canadian Space Agency.
“This is a really big opportunity for us to really showcase this unique piece of equipment which is simple yet can revolutionise space travel and improve and protect the health of astronauts,” he said.
