TEDDINGTON’S M & S POLISHES UP ‘BLEAK FRONTAGE’

Marks & Spencer in Teddington’s High Street today took radical steps today to improve its street-facing frontage following complaints about it looking ‘bleak.’
The Teddington Society had lodged a complaint earlier this year that the black vinyl panels facing the street did not fit into the other heritage buildings in the street.
The massive store chain did respond positively to the complaints and promised to take action.
Today most of the black vinyl panel was removed but work is continuing.
The Society which campaigns to make Teddington a better place to live said: “All of the windows on the street frontage are now covered with black vinyl and the window frames are also black.
“We understand the desire for images to promote the store’s produce but the building was designed to fit in with the heritage buildings in the High Street and the unremitting black detracts from the window frame details and the overall look of the site.”
The Teddington Society also wrote to Sainsbury’s in the High Street about its scruffy frontage but has not received a response.
