LIME E-BIKES HIT BACK OVER ‘BULLYING’ CLAIM

The e-bike company which lost its contract with Richmond council has hit back over claims it had ‘bullied’ residents into opposing the decision.
The statement from Lime said:
“Lime has in no way bullied Richmond residents and there is no evidence to support these claims by anonymous Council sources.
“Richmond residents have relied on Lime e-bikes to make millions of journeys since 2021. The Council’s decision left many residents feeling confused about what was happening and what the implications would be for them, so it was important to keep our riders informed, particularly given the disruption caused by a similar decision in neighbouring Hounslow last year.
“Motivated by concerns that the council’s decision will severely limit their travel choices, Richmond residents have launched a petition asking for a change in approach, which over 1,300 have now proactively signed.
“We respect the decision and wish Richmond Council success with the next stage of the scheme. We remain committed to supporting cycling across London”.
