TEDDINGTON’S LION PUB BECOMES THE THREE LIONS FOR WORLD CUP
The community pub The Lion is transforming into THE THREE LIONS for the duration of the FIFA World Cup, we can reveal.
The pub, which was saved by the local community, will be hosting the Lion’s World Cup Festival—a tournament experience designed with a big heart and love and respect for the community.
A spokesperson said: “While corporate high-street bars screen games around the clock, we are doing things a bit differently.
“We are incredibly proud to be your independent, premium football sanctuary, which means creating an electric atmosphere inside the pub while remaining a first-class neighbour outside of it.
“To protect our quiet back streets, here is how we are playing it:
“All 4pm, 7pm, and 10pm matches will be screened live with audio strictly inside the pub (unless we receive an overwhelming ask from our immediate vicinity to consider outdoor screenings).
“We will not be broadcasting any 1am games during the group stages.
“If and when the Three Lions progress, any decision to air late-night matches will be made in close collaboration and alignment with our community – assuming, of course, that our local authorities are willing and able to issue the appropriate licensing extensions!

The Langdon Down Centre Charity Sweepstake
It costs just £8 to enter, and proceeds go directly to our local heroes at the Langdon Down Centre, supporting their incredible work for the Down’s syndrome community. The grand prize? An authentic, signed replica shirt of the tournament champions. Grab your team at the bar before they all go!
The ‘Keepy-Uppie’ Challenge
Think you’ve got the skills? Post a video of your best ‘group stage’ keepy-uppie attempt online and tag us on Instagram and come in and claim your free drink. Then the real fun starts – we move into live showdowns kicking off at 11:00 AM on Saturday 27th June (details to follow) and we will follow the knockout stages all the way to the Grand Final on Sunday 19th July, where our top two finalists will battle it out for bar tabs and bragging rights!
The ‘Find Our Cubs’ Mascot Hunt
Perfect for families! Three of our Little Lion mascots will be “wandering off” into progressively more difficult and iconic landmarks around Teddington and Hampton Wick. Keep an eye on our social media stories for cryptic clues. Track a cub down, bring it back to the bar, and claim your prize.
To top it all off, our team will be sporting international jerseys, we have a brilliant football-themed quiz night (Tues 23rd before Eng vs. Ghana @9pm), and Chef Matt is firing up the grill every Friday from 4pm and all weekend long with a premium BBQ menu (featuring 21-day aged smash burgers, grilled Cajun tilapia, and sticky baby back ribs).
