Kwik-Fit centre proposal rejected
Richmond Council has refused permission for the proposed Kwik-Fit centre at the river end the High Street.
Soon after plans were announced there was a steady influx of objections from nearby residents and businesses citing reasons that included parking worries, environmental issues, impact on other existing businesses and general negative impact on the conservation area in which it would have resided.
The reasons for the refusal fall mainly into three areas:
- Inappropriate design in a conservation area (and opposite listed buildings)
- An absence of a transport assessment and therefore failure to demonstrate that the proposal would not cause danger to pedestrians and increase nuisance due to increased traffic in general
- Insufficient information relating to the Sustainable Construction Checklist (carbon offset etc)
