Festive Farmers Market for Teddington this Christmas
The popular London Farmers Market will be visiting Teddington on Sunday 25th November at Teddington Memorial Hospital (10am-2pm) with a Christmas twist.
To help with the Christmas mood, carols will be sung and along with reindeer rides from Park Lane Stables, provide a festive backdrop to the market where lots of seasonal food and gifts will be on offer: spiced apple juice, free range sausage recipes, cured meats, mince pies, Christmas cake and puddings (made by local bakers).
This is in addition to the more regular but no less tasty farmhouse cheeses, locally grown vegetables and fruit, honey, rare breed meats, game, juice, hand-made preserves and free range eggs. At this event you can also order free-range home-reared turkey or geese from local farmers to be delivered or collected just before Christmas.
Mark Handley: “We’ve had so many enquiries over the years from Teddington residents so we are delighted to have this trial market off the ground. If this one is successful, we hope that a regular weekly farmers’ market will commence at the hospital in the spring”.
All the stalls will be run by farmers and food producers – items cannot be sold here unless you have grown or baked it yourself! Organisers are on the lookout for more local food producers such as local honey producers, preserve and cake makers. The market will donate fees to the trusts charitable funds and present a hamper to the hospital for patients and staff this Christmas.
More information on what will be on offer will be added to the Teddington page of their website. You can also show your support by liking the Teddington Facebook page (will be online this week). The market will be taking place in the Health and Social Care Centre Car Park, accessible from Queens Road entrance, no parking will be available on site.
[Update] There are now over 20 stalls confirmed for the first day with everything you need to create a festive feast, free range turkeys from March House Farm, fresh potatoes and vegetables from Manor Farm, Christmas puddings from local bakers. They will even have fishermen from Dorset with a range of seafood and their freshly caught catch.
The are looking for a local singing group or choir to add some cheer, contact info@lfm.org.uk if you can help.
There is also a free prize hamper draw which locals can enter by joining the farmers market friends group for Teddington.
[Update] The market was well attended and considered a successful launch from organisers – over 3,000 visitors turned up and many stalls sold out of produce in the final hour. Some photos here and details of the survey questions asked on the day will be posted when known.
