NewsA new outdoor fitness programme launches this weekend that partners One Element with England Rugby. The health and fitness initiative will be unveiled this Saturday at 9am in Teddington RFC, Bushy Park and the first session is free!

Drawing on prominent athletes and influential sports coaches & rugby training techniques, the programme delivers an impactful, structured and fun fitness programme for all ages and ability levels, whether the goal be sport-specific training, general fitness, a particular running distance to complete or weight loss. Coupled with nutrition and dietary advice and group WhatsApp contact, members can share advice and tips with each other outside of training.

Teddington Rugby Club has been chosen as one of the pilot locations of this new social fitness initiative which is being considered for a national roll-out. If you fancy a more exotic way of keeping fit, a new course of Belly Dance classes will commence at Fitness First this Saturday at 2:30pm. The classes are open level-beginners in Egyptian Style Belly Dance designed for everyone who love to learn something new – anyone can join this classes regardless their age and shape.

Judyta is an award-winning professional Belly Dance teacher and performer with many years of experience in different styles of Belly Dance: traditional, modern, Turkish and Egyptian).

There are plenty of indoor and outdoor based ways of getting in shape in the area including Plan B Fitness camp which includes a nutritional programme and a free taster week can introduce you to the popular course that has helped locals lose fat and tone by exercising in groups.

If you prefer running, in addition to the weekly Bushy 5k parkrun (volunteers always welcome as well as runners!), our local gem Sweatshop hosts free community runs each week on Mondays, Thursdays and Sunday for different distances and abilities. It’s the ideal combination for new runners as you can get advice about the correct gear as well as joining a group run all with the same goal.

Foundry Fitness on Stanley Road host a number of exercises classes including fitness boxing and pilates. If you find it difficult to get a baby sitter and get back to fitness, Mummys Time Out, in addition to hosting pamper and social events also provide a fitness club that includes Zumba, Boxercise, Legs, Bums and Tums and other fitness classes all with an on-site creche to look after the little ones.

If it’s the little ones themselves that lack an active and enjoyable hobby, Teddington Dance Studio is a vibrant dance school that teaches all students to enjoy the art of dance. Students of all ages are welcome and encouraged to learn and develop their dance technique in a fun and friendly environment. Classes include ballet, tap, modern, melody movement, street jazz and musical theatre.
