EventsTeddington Artists are exhibiting various art pieces in the atrium of NPL this weekend – pop along 10am-6pm to view the locally created paintings, ceramics, jewellery, prints, photography and drawings.

If you missed seeing the Glorianna during the recent Olympics and Diamond Jubilee Pageant, it will be passing through Teddington Lock around midday on Sunday 11th May. A small flotilla of hand-powered boats will be completing the annual Tudor Pull – rowing 25 miles from Hampton Court Palace to the Tower of London.

This Sunday also sees the return of the Chestnut Sunday Parade and Fair in Bushy Park. This celebration of the blossoming of the trees along Chestnut Avenue originally started in the mid 19th century and lasted up to WWII, then resurrected again in 1993.

The parade will start at 12:30pm (road closed from 12:15 to 1:30pm) and the day will include:

• Traditional fairground carousel & other rides and stalls
• Arena displays, showing historical military re-enactments and horse riding displays
• Live music from 50s and 60s bands
• Historical re-enactment groups
• Classic cars, motorcycles, cycles and military vehicles
• Displays on Bushy Park’s wildlife & history, Pony rides, tree works, Friends of Bushy & Home Parks, Horse Rangers Association, local charities, NPL and more

The latest production from Teddington Theatre Club is a Moira Buffini’s play, Dinner – coinciding with the London opening of her latest play Hand Bagged. Hampton Hill Playhouse will host the Olivier-nominated black comedy which is about “Food. Sex. Death. It’s what Life is all about.

In addition to bi-weekly comedy nights at The Royal Oak, The Dead Parrot Society is adding a regular jazz night to the calendar at this venue. Turn up for some enjoyable (free) jazz from 7:30pm on Sunday 18th of May to enjoy Darla In The Mirror.

On Friday 16th of May, an Apprentice-style challenge will see four teams of volunteers from Boxwood Management Consultancy all running different charity shops to see who can raise the most money on the day! At Teddington Shooting Star CHASE shop a special Children’s Fun Day will include story telling, refreshments, new donations, lucky dip, raffle, egg-friendly competition, fingerprint painting and much more.

Don’t forget that The NPL is opening it’s doors again to the public on Tuesday the 20th of May. This has turned into a more regular event but it still only occurs every 2 years so if you want to have a sneaky peak at all the top of the range equipment, measurements and experiments that happen here, attend this free chance to explore! Pre-registration is necessary and if you can’t make it during the day (starts at 2pm), the doors will remain open until 8pm.

On May 24th Park Lane Stables will be hosting an Open Day on Park Lane from 2pm. Come along to meet the ponies, enjoy some cakes, painted horseshoes & bags more activities for the family! Funds raised on the day will go to the Down Syndrome Association.
