Former Mayor raises over £21k for local charity
The former Mayor has raised over £21k for a local charity who supports residents with a neurological condition and their families.
Cllr David Linnette was Mayor of Richmond upon Thames for 2016-17. One of the main roles of Mayor is to raise money for a local charity. He selected Twickenham based charity – Integrated Neurological Services (INS).
Throughout his time as Mayor, Cllr Linnette attended hundreds of events. He also held a number of fundraisers – including a fish and chip cruise, quiz, Easter Egg hunt and carol concert. As a result, he is now able to present INS with a cheque for £20,000.
Now Cllr Linnette has passed on the baton to Cllr Lisa Blakemore, he wants to thank all the people he met over his term as Mayor. Ranging from charities to churches, schools to social clubs and associations to attractions, he has had a very busy year – supported by Cllr Kate Howard, his deputy.
In his final video as Mayor, Cllr Linnette said:
“I have really enjoyed meeting a great number of people over the past year. We are so blessed in this borough to have so many volunteers and charitable bodies. It has been an education. I have been to so many great places.
