The Rule Of Six Implemented Today: What Does That Mean

The rule of six has gone into effect today in Teddington and across England. This new measure is to clamp down on big groups meeting indoors and outdoors.

Before the rules were, no more than 30 people could meet and only from one other household. However this has been slashed to six.

The new rules allow you to meet up with 6 other people even from different households, this is an attempt to bring rules in line with outdoor gatherings.

The latest government guidelines were announced by Boris Johnson on September 9th.

Exemptions From The Rule Of Six

There are a few exemptions in England from this rule such as:

  • Being in a large family and support bubbles
  • Gatherings at work, schools or education purposes
  • Rules are different in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland

For the now the rules are in place for the ‘foreseeable future’.

They hope they can turn this around before Christmas, giving them a 3 month window to hopefully control the pandemic more.
