A Intergenerational Christmas Party Was Hosted By Brighter Together

Over 12 weeks the members of St Margaret’s Montessori nursery and Nightingale Care Home have been participating in weekly Zoom sessions as part of charity Brighter Together’s intergenerational bonding programme.

They hosted a party where they were separated by a window. Residents and children danced, sang songs and exchanged Christmas cards and crafts they had made for each other.

“There has been a real excitement from the children about coming today. There is definitely a connection with residents and seeing someone from outside their family has really been helping the children develop their social skills; they are very considerate of the residents and talk about them all through the week at school.

Brighter Together is supported by an Advisory Board from fields of Early years education, dementia specialists, physiotherapy and occupational therapy, who have worked closely to create a great programme of weekly sessions.
