FASHION RETAILER WONDERLUST IS LATEST HIGH STREET CASUALTY

Another popular and independent retailer in the High Street, the fashion shop Wonderlust, has closed down permanently, it emerged today.
The store is empty apart from the remnants of For Sale signs and Wonderlust branded shopping bags on a hanger inside the shop.
Owner, Sarah Milmine told Teddington Town: “Sadly, we had to close our doors at the end of the summer. Post Covid, footfall has dwindled and people are spending their leisure time differently.
“There’s the combination of the dwindling value people place on clothing and economic factors with the cost of employing people increasing, there’s still scant disposable income in sight. I was left with no choice but to sell off part of the company. All of my employees are redundant.
“I am still committed to managing our production here, I have downsized and have been left with the unit at Teddington business Park where we are continuing to see what we can salvage the brand.
“After seven years in Teddington, it was heart-breaking to leave but unsustainable to stay.”
Notices on the window and the door showed the premises are the subject of an ‘enforcement notice’ which confirms that the landlord has exercised their right to take possession of the property known as the basement and ground floor unit at 30 High Street, Teddington.
It’s understood the retailer is still available online.
Teddington Town has tried to contact the debt recovery company DCBL which has posted the notices but has not received any response.
Over the last year the High Street branch of Ladbrokes closed down, the coffee shop known as Organically Coffee closed down and Charcoal closed as well. Other businesses have opening on the sites apart from the HSBC bank site on the corner of Cedar Road.
