Exclusive: FIRST IMAGES OF NEW-LOOK HAMPTON WICK ROYAL CRICKET CLUB

The updated visuals demonstrate a softened material treatment with a natural looking timber cladding system at Ground and a zinc roof tile enveloping the First floor and the roof. It is intended that the proposed naturally weathering external timber with a more natural appearance would settle progressively, over time into the park setting, a sustainable solution for the site, in keeping with the landscape with scoreboard on the far left

These are the stunning images of the new-look Hampton Wick Royal Cricket Club pavilion following the devastating fire in Bushy Park in September 2023.

These will be the plans and drawings submitted to Richmond Council for their consideration for planning permission, which, it is hoped, will be approved with no objections or amendments.

Previous plans were rejected by Historic England and the Council’s Heritage Officer.

Although the cladding and the colour of the roof look dark in these images, the cricket club is confident they will be much paler in colour.

Club President Graham Smith reckons the insurance will pay out about £1.4m for the fire, which is thought to be arson, but the new building project will require at least another £500.000 to meet the demands of the growing club and its increasing number of teams of all-age groups.

He expects various grants from groups like the National Lottery leaving the club to raise a hefty £300.000.

It is envisaged that significant donations will be raised through a ‘Wonderwall at The Wick’ whereby supporters can donate a sum of money and a brick or bricks in the new building will carry their name.

Previous plans envisaged a two storey building which was rejected
