DOG OWNER PROSECUTED OVER ATTACK

A man has appeared in court following an attack by his dog on another dog in Seymour Road, Hampton Wick, police revealed today.
The man, from New Malden, appeared at the special Willesden magistrates court accused of being the owner of a ‘dog dangerously out of control’ in a public place.
The attacking dog was humanely euthanised after the incident.
In a statement the local police Safe Neighbourhood Team said: “Hampton Wick SNT will thoroughly investigate behaviour by irresponsible dog owners and work hard to bring them to justice as we have in this case.
“This case involved some thorough investigation by SNT officers and I am pleased to say we were supported by the local community who helped us to identify the persons responsible.
“Please keep things in perspective and remember incidents like these are very rare.”
The owner of the dog, Rob Lynch, from New Malden, will be sentenced later this month.
In a separate incident local police arrested an unnamed man for stealing tobacco from Costcutter in Kingston Road, Hampton Wick.
The police said: “Residents and businesses have told the police that they want the police to deal firmly and appropriately with shoplifters – it is a ward priority, where necessary we will arrest.”
Recent police community meetings have heard from local retailers and businesses about their increasing concern over the levels of shoplifting and vandalism.
