Junior school expansion plans given first green light

PlanningThe updated proposal to expand St Mary’s and St Peter’s Primary School have been approved by Richmond Council.

Despite increasing the amount of outside playing area since the original application, many objections were still lodged against the updated plans from concerned parents and nearby residents. Although agreed in principle, the Government Office still have to confirm a ‘relaxation’ that will give the plans full permission – only then can they start with an agreement to not stray to an ‘adverse direction’.

Head teacher John Logan has re-affirmed his belief that the expansion plans will be good for the school and its children:

“We are confident that the design provides an exciting and dynamic educational facility for the children of our school and community and puts right the design mistakes in the previous expansion of 2000. “
