TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR THE QUEEN’S READING ROOM AT HAMPTON COURT PALACE
The Queen’s Reading Room Festival will return to the stunning surroundings of Hampton Court Palace on Saturday, 8th June 2024, it was confirmed today.
The festival will gather authors, actors and literature lovers for a day celebrating the written word and a musical version of the amazing wartime spy story Operation Mincemeat.
Visitors can explore the Palace and its beautiful grounds, treading the floors where Shakespeare once performed with his King’s Men; wander the sumptuous gardens bursting with life in summer.
You can listen to poetry read by some of the country’s finest actors including Helena Bonham Carter, and enjoy shows from our headliners, including: Miriam Margolyes, Ian Rankin, Harlan Coben, Mick Herron, Kate Mosse, Elif Shafak, Lee Child and many more.
The Festival is a daytime and evening event and is a co-production between The Queen’s Reading Room and Historic Royal Palaces, the independent charity that cares for Hampton Court Palace.
Events will take place on the main stage, The Great Hall and the Cartoon Gallery
All daytime Festival goers require a Grounds Pass for entry to the festival. This will enable access to enjoy the Palace and Gardens between 10am – 4pm and is required alongside a daytime session ticket.
HRP members should select a free Grounds Pass. Please note that a valid HRP membership card must be shown on entry.
In a separate evening event the inimitable Miriam Margolyes takes to the stage to express her love and deep knowledge of the little-known writer, Charles Dickens. Tickets are £40 each.
Expect her to be funny, fascinating and – let’s be honest – probably a little bit naughty as she commands an army of famous friends for an evening of great, great expectations. From Twist to Pip, from Bumble to Marley, Miss Haversham and Peggotty, the cast of great Dickensian novels will be brought to life with fanfare and flourish.
The Queen’s Reading Room is a charity led by Her Majesty Queen Camilla to celebrate and promote the power and benefits of reading. It is on a mission to help more people find and connect with books which enrich their lives. Last year was the first time the event took place at Hampton Court Palace.
Proceeds will go towards the ongoing work of both charities.
