100kms ULTRA RUNNERS PASS THROUGH TEDDINGTON LOCK
About 3000 runners set off from Putney early today to take on the Thames Path Challenge which is 100kms (62.137miles) or 10 miles MORE than two marathons.
The bright but chilly morning conditions were perfect as the runners streamed along the towpath taking in the stunning river scenery along the route to the finish in Henley. It is estimated that the challenge will take at least eight and half hours.
The route takes the runners, who are supporting their own chosen charities, from Putney Bridge upstream to Henley along the famous Towpath through Richmond, Hampton Court, Runnymede, and Windsor.
One of the runners Robbie Higgins is supporting the Baker McKenzie partner charity London Air Ambulance which provides an advanced trauma team to seriously injured people in London and has already raised over £3000. It costs £15m a year to run.
His running partner Alex ‘Livo’ Livingstone is raising money for the charity www.missingpeople.org.uk
