JAMIE MURRAY HITS A WINNER AT SPORTEDD IN TEDDINGTON

British tennis star and seven times Grand Slam doubles winner Jamie Murray served up a treat for a sell-out SporTedd audience at The Wharf restaurant in Teddington.
His cardboard cut-out also proved to be a big hit on the night with woman guests battling over who was taking ‘him’ home. and eagerly posing for photos too.
Jamie himself, who had recently announced his retirement from his glittering 20-year tennis career, was in equal demand and happily posed for photos and talked about his plans for the future including a YouTube project with younger brother Andy and various tennis commentary commitments.
He was joined by journalist Stuart Fraser, who covered tennis for fifteen years for The Times, and recalled some of his off-court experiences with the Murray brothers and gave examples of their competitiveness to interviewer Alison Kervin OBE.
His cardboard cut-out was amongst the raffle prizes which included two of his signed rackets – one which he played with in the last US Open – and giant tennis balls, Murray mints, rugby tickets, a signed England rugby shirt and two big boxes of Walkers crisps.
Guest Emma Johnson appeared to be rather overcome with Jamie’s cardboard cut-out…. but claimed she was looking after him for a friend…..
The latest SporTedd event raised over £2000 to support local sport-themed projects and achieved a new milestone in attracting more female guests then men amongst the 88-strong audience.
Since it was launched a total of 97 different organisations have received a total of £135.000.
